Flex/ Flash/ ColdFusion Launch Event June 16!

There's exciting news in the world of Flex, Flash and ColdFusion, and the Acadiana Adobe User Group will get an insider look at everything that's happening when the group meets on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 6-8 pm at Graham Group Interactive, , 2014 West Pinhook Road, Suite 210, Lafayette, LA.

ColdFusion Jedi Ray Camden will give us a closeup view of the exciting features of newly released Flash Builder 4 (the successor to the Flex Builder line) and Flash Catalyst, as well as the "under the hood" features of the newest Flex SDK. He will give insightful info and demos about the latest in ColdFusion technology as well.

Come hungry for complimentary poorboys as well as enlightenment! Bring a thirst for free sodas as well as a thirst for knowledge! This is a launch event for Adobe, and Adobe is providing sandwiches and drinks, and we'll also have some special giveaways.

We'll also be drawing for a free Adobe CS4 Creative Suite package, and you're eligible for the drawing just by attending this event!

We hope to see you there!

Through the summer and into the fall!

The weather is warming up, and we've got lots of great things planned in upcoming months for the Acadiana Adobe User Group. Here's the schedule through October:

June 16, 2009: FLEX / CF Event

Ray Camden, the ColdFusion Jedi himself, will lead a presentation of materials provided by Adobe, detailing exciting new technologies in Flex and ColdFusion that are all ready for launch. Plus, we'll have our raffle for a CS4 Creative Suite package! This meeting will have special support from Adobe and we'll be posting more info when details are set.

July: Summer Furlough

No meeting in July. Enjoy the beach, the yard work, or whatever it is that gets you through the summer torpor!

August 25, 2009: Show and Tell

Always a popular event: various members will show current projects of interest, or even pose questions to the group. We'll announce details nearer the meeting date, and meanwhile, if you're working on a project or issue that you think would interest the group, let us know and we'll get you on the agenda!

September. 15, 2009: Word Press

Ron Domingue will take us on a tour of WordPress, a powerful and extensible publishing platform which has emerged from its role as a blogging tool to be utilized in some cases as a site CMS.

October 20, 2009: Kill The Developer

Actually, "Kill the Developer" is only a suggested title for a video game, as we hear about video game development from Owen Buller, who will also talk about image prep in Adobe Photoshop.

The schema

All meetings are 6-8 pm, and are held at Graham Group Interactive, 2014 West Pinhook Road, Suite 210, Lafayette, LA., unless otherwise announced. Light refreshments are served, and we raffle off swag at every meeting.

Possible project with cart implementation

AUG member Zachary Guidry passes along this information:

----

I have been helping a client update their website. They would like to implement a shopping cart and also want to revise the graphic design for the entire site.

I have only ever implemented a cart once and don't want to have to re-learn the process! If you would like the work, let me know and I will recommend you to the client.

I can help with revising the graphics, but if you want to handle that as well as the shopping cart that is fine with me. The client is easy to work with (not pushy), down to Earth and pays quickly. If you are not interested but know of anyone else you can recommend that would like the work, let me know by email at zacharyguidry@hotmail.com.

I had set up hosting for him, but he is not tied to that webhost. The current host is Alentus.com, which supports ASP or PHP (and possibly other scripting languages). A free Access DB comes with the account, but a SQL or other DB can be added. He is not currently using a DB or any server-side scripting, so any webhost will work.
