CampFiber

We gladly pass on this information that was recently sent our way:

After looking at the initial responses as to when is best for folk, it appears as though the timeframe with the most people being available is Thursday July 16th from 5-7pm, so that's when we're going to have our CampFiber Redux.

Location will be the same as last time: the media room at the Travis Technology Center , generously donated to us by the Abacus Data Exchange.

The agenda will be roughly as follows:

5 - Happy Hour

5:30 - Welcome

5:35 - Show and tell (who's been working on cool stuff?)

6 - LUSFiber Update (should have an LUS representative there)

6:15 - LUSFiber Taskforce discussion

6:45 - Plans moving forward

If you have something cool to show off or important to discuss, let me know via email and come prepared to talk for a few minutes. Though we want to keep any presentations short, so if you have something to show try to keep it under 5 minutes plus then we can have time for Q&A.

Though like a BarCamp this schedule is mutable based on the interests/needs of the group.

The LUSFiber Taskforce is an entity I want to lead a discussion of that we can create that would help coordinate the efforts of developers and provide a more formal communication mechanism between developers and LUS.

I'm also hopeful we can get into discussing the creation of new apps and see what opportunities there are to get everyone working on cool stuff and collaborating on this development.

To register for the event go here: http://campfiberredux.eventbrite.com/

And please feel encouraged to send this link around to any other developers you know that you think should be at this event.

Additionally, to help make the day even more special, Abigail Ransonet, head of the Abacus Data Exchange, has offered to open up the media room all day for a Lafayette Jelly!

For those not familiar with the concept, a Jelly is a casual coworking space/day. Basically she's going to open up the media room, which has lots of cafe tables to facilitate groups, and everyone who works from home or has flexibility in where they operate out of can come together and be able to work around like-minded people. It's a great way to get out of the house and into a creative environment where you have people to bounce ideas off of and commune with.

The Jelly will run from 7am until 5pm on Thursday July 16th. Though the casual part of this means you can come and go as you please and not feel like you have to stay the whole time.

Like the happy hour, it will be BYOBeverages.

If you can come you'll have a place to work, people to work alongside, and all the connectivity you could want.

As Abigail says, "Real Cool, Real Comfortable, Real Time."

I may set up a wiki or eventbrite page for the Jelly as well, but for now just reply to this email if you're planning on stopping by. And please also invite anyone who you think would enjoy the Jelly mindset to join in on the fun as well.

If you have any questions let me know, otherwise go get yourselves signed up and I look forward to seeing you all soon!
